Exhibitor Comments from IJK 2024
Dates: May 16-18, 2024
Venue: Kobe International Exhibition Hall
Mr. Palriwala Chetan Kumar,
REP. DIRECTOR
We have been exhibiting at the IJT for years. IJK is where we meet Chinese customers.
We exhibit at all jewellery shows, but Tokyo has many Japanese buyers from all over Japan and overseas buyers from the Philippines and other countries. Kobe has a particularly large number of Chinese buyers. Yokohama attracts many Japanese buyers and retailers.
The number of visitors was extremely high this year, with more than 100 people visiting the booths per day. About 10% of them are new buyers, which is likely to lead to future sales.
Mr. Dott. Simone Meli,
RPRESIDENT
In the 25 years that we have been exhibiting, IJT is an important exhibition where we can meet new customers from China, Korea and Taiwan as well as Japanese buyers.
About 10 buyers visit each day, 60% are existing Japanese customers and 40% are new overseas buyers. Sales are particularly strong with foreign buyers, and an important piece of Mediterranean coral called Madre Vitato is selling well.
It is hoped to continue inviting international buyers from all over the world.
Ms. Noelle Chow,
Co-founder, GIA Graduate Gemologist
Since 1982, we have been exhibiting at the Hong Kong jewellery fair for many years and have recently launched a new collection of watches and jewellery, which we decided to exhibit in Japan as we believe our products are well suited to the Japanese market. We are looking for partners, mainly distributors.
Japanese consumers are slow to consider, but one potential customer visited our booth both yesterday and today.
Each meeting takes a long time because we need to get to know them about products that incorporate new technologies. We are so busy with business that we don't even have time for lunch.
Mr. SAMBHAV JAIN
Last year we attended IJT as visitors and decided to exhibit because we felt that there were many business opportunities due to the large number of participants.
We are a wholesaler with a factory in Bangkok and we want to provide better service to the world as a manufacturer as well as a distributor.
For a first-time exhibitor, the response from visitors is very good and we are able to meet with more than 10 new customers in one day. We plan to exhibit again next year.
Mr. Toyoki Sho,
Chairman
A total of 10,000 items are on display, tailored to the tastes of each buyer. Some of the items are by Japanese designers with unique, one-of-a-kind designs. One of the roles of us is to introduce the good qualities of Japan.
Having exhibited in Kobe for 15 years, we have many customers from Shanghai. Also this time we are attracting social buyers ourselves and we are full of reservations for three days.
We exhibit with high expectations for sales, and this time we are satisfied with the results, which exceeded our expectations.
Mr. Kazuhiro Otaku,
CEO
About 20 years ago, we started exhibiting at IJT as a way of showcasing items from overseas creators and designers who were facing barriers due to the unique business practices of Japan.
For this year, around 300-1,000 buyers purchase items over the three days. Half new and half existing. This year there are overwhelmingly more live buyers from China, and the volume of sales is high with quick payments.
We also exhibit at TOKYO JEWELY FES. It has a higher attendance than other shows and we expect it to be more successful.
Mr. Tetsuro Tsuruta,
Senior Manager
Sanco's mission is to achieve a sustainable society through jewellery. After purchasing items, we sell them to the next customer who wants them, and we believe that IJT is the best place to introduce quality items to international buyers.
We are satisfied with the results of exhibiting, and we are increasing the size of our booths according to our sales. Countless buyers visit us in one day, and of these, about 40% are new customers. This is the third year we have exhibited, so we hope to increase the number of repeat customers in the future. New customers have high potential, especially the international premium buyers, some of whom purchase dozens of items at a time.
Mr. Uba
We provide gold coins and necklaces for both Japanese and international customers, and this year marks 10 years of exhibiting.
In addition to existing regular customers, our purpose in exhibiting is to expand our new audience.
In this year, there are about 30 to 50 buyers per day. We expect more buyers from China, Taiwan and other East Asian countries.
Our customer number has gradually increased both domestically and internationally, and we hope to continue exhibiting here onwards.
Mr. Tsujii
We are exhibiting to attract new customers in the jewelry industry.
New customers are about 10% of the visitors to the booth, and since we exhibit every year, end-users sometimes come in the form of repeat visitors. Roughly 10-15 buyers visit the booth every hour.
We are hopeful that more retail customers will visit the show.
Why Exhibit
Japan is the 3rd Largest Jewellery Market in the World, and IJT is Asia's hub of the jewellery market. The three IJT shows attract over 50,000 buyers annually.
